History

At Greenfields, all children will understand a range of historical events across different time periods, understand where in time and context historical events have happened, use a range of different sources to expand their historical enquiry and have access to a broad range of trips aimed at enriching their historical learning.

Our Curriculum

There are 4 strands of history that run across our curriculum on a 2-year cycle:

  • Historical interpretation
  • Chronology
  • Historical enquiry
  • Knowledge and influence on modern life

What we cover in each cycle in each key stage is below.

Key Stage 1

Cycle A:

Cycle B:

Lower Key Stage 2:

Cycle A:
  • Romans
  • Stone Age to Iron Age
Cycle B:
  • Anglo-Saxons
  • Vikings

Upper Key Stage 2:

Cycle A:
  • Ancient Egypt
  • WW2
Cycle B:
  • Ancient Greeks
  • Mayans
