Key Stage 1

This term, KS1 have been working on developing their ball skills - with a focus on throwing and catching. Across the term, we did lots of activities which challenge the children in their throwing and catching abilities to really improve these skills.

The children started off in a large circle, sitting on the floor, rolling and bouncing balls across to one another. The aim was to keep all the balls inside the circle. This supported the children with their hand-eye coordination as they could not predict where the balls would bounce and supported their focus as there were lots of balls that they had to be focused on at one time.

We also looked at improving our general throwing and catching abilities. We worked on our under-arm and over-arm throwing and also using our hands, arms and bodies to catch the balls to help prevent them being dropped. We played lots of games which challenged the children's throwing and catching skills and to ensure they were always focused and ready to receive the ball at any given point.

KS1 have also been working on creating some dance exercise routines to show to each other. Some of our KS1 children also created their own hackers!
