Term 1

Upper Key Stage 2 looked at existing products which enabled them to create a product for their specific target audience.

The children experimented with different materials to test out the best way to join the wood together, it was clear that string did not work! The children were then shown the correct way to use a saw and they were able to practise the cutting technique.

Part of the process of creating a product is making a prototype. They learnt how to scale as this allowed the children to check their measurements were correct.

The children used their newly aquired skills and knowledge to cut and join the wood to size.
