UKS2 began their music lesson by listening to 2 pieces of music from World War 2 films. Their task was to analyse the music discussing the type of music, thinking about tempo, dynamics, timbre. The 2 pieces of music were: Supermarine composed by Hans Zimmer from the film Dunkirk and The Night Window composed by Thomas Newman from the film 1917.

In groups the children then used musical instruments to compose a piece of music using the 2 pieces of music they had analysed as a reference.

The children then performed their compositions to the rest of the class. They were then appraised by their peers on what they liked or thought they could do to improve their performance.

To finish off, the children annotated photos in their music books, explaining the process they had gone through to get to their final performances.

Peach Trees

We have been singing and dancing to The teddy bear movement song and The bear went over the mountain to go alongside our This is Bear story!

Pear Trees

We have been playing instruments with control to play loud/quiet (dynamics), fast/slow (tempo).

 

    

Apple Trees

We have been learning "When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears" the children (and adults) have really enjoyed learning a whole new song and enjoy performing it!
