Term 5

In term 5, children in LKS2 learnt about the Stone Age to the Iron Age and some of the key changes throughout this period. They looked at the (very long) timeline of this period and recognised one of the main changes was the materials used to make tools and that the discovery of metal (bronze and iron) enabled people to make better weapons and tools, such as farming equipment, which increased the population of Britain. They looked at the different types of houses in the Stone Age and discussed why each dwelling would be appropriate for the time it was used in. In each of the ages, they looked at tools and weapons and daily life (such as what their clothes were made from and how they traded items).  To secure their knowledge, they visited Kent Life to have a Stone Age workshop. By the end of the Learning Experience, all children were able to say at least one change within the time period.
