Upper Key Stage 2

Across term 2 and 3, UKS2 have been going swimming, building on their teamwork skills, exploring some different inclusion sports and developing balance, strength and movement skills through fitness training.

Fitness

Across the course of the term, UKS2 have been taking part in circuit training. This not only aids their fitness but also supports building their strength, balance and flexibility. The improvement of all these areas will aid the children in being more able sports-people when playing other sports.

Team Sports

Throughout learning about team sports, the children completed some team building exercises and played benchball. We decided to play benchball as it really supports the children working as a team in order to be successful.

The children also played some team building games to aid this skill which they can then apply to team games, such as benchball.

Inclusion Sports

Across this term, the children have been learning to play some inclusion sports, including goalball and new age kurling. These are some really exciting sports which the children have not had the opportunity to explore yet and allows them to understand the challenges people with disabilities face when playing sports.
