Art- Abstract Art
For 2 weeks we will be looking at abstract art, specifically Wassily Kandinsky. We will focus on shapes, lines and brush strokes as well as looking at the colour wheel with its primary and secondary colours. The first week will be looking at Kandinsky's work, picking them about and finishing them off. We will also be making colour wheels and experimenting with different brushes. In the second week we will investigate colours further and create our very own abstract piece of art.

PSHE- Culture and Diversity
For one week we will look at different cultures and their celebrations, such as Diwali, Lunar new year, Christmas and Easter. We will also look at diversity and how people may look different, but inside they are the same as everyone else.
Creating music and performances with the message of inclusion.
Geography- Weather
We will spend 1 week learning about the weather. This will include looking at how it can change based on where you are and all about the equator. We hope to see lots of different weather during the week and have lots of conversations about the weather we experience.

PSHE- Families and the people that care for me.
We will be learning about families and the people that care about us for the next week. There will be a lot of conversations about different families and how they can look. We will have the opportunity to draw our own family portraits and write stories about our own families and see how they are different to other people.

DT- Wheels and Axels
We will be spending 2 weeks designing, creating and evaluating our own projects. These have a focus on the wheels and axels. Oak trees will spend the first week researching different toy cars and then spend the following week making their own and evaluating their product.
Using our indoor and outdoor construction areas to explore different wheels and axles before creating their own.

Science - Materials.
We will be learning about different materials and their different uses for 2 weeks. The first week will be looking at exploring different materials, followed by a week of looking at individual materials and their uses. We will finish with an experiment testing different materials and how waterproof they are.

Computing – E-Safety
We will be spending one week learning about e-safety and how to be stay safe online. This includes making sure we know what information needs to be kept private and what to do if somethign online make you uncomfortable.
History – Communication
We will spend the next 2 weeks learning about communication and how it has evolved over time. The first week will be spent looking at older forms of communication like the messengers, the telegraph and morse code. Followed by a week of learning about more modern forms of communication like Telephones, mobile phones and the internet and how new forms of communication changed daily life.

RE- Jewish People
We will be learning about Jewish people for the next 2 weeks. in the first week we will focus on looking at who Jewish people are and what they believe. The second week will look at their sacred texts and what it means to be part of a faith community. We will be looking at Jewish artifacts and symbols that are important within the faith.

Science- Animals including humans
We will be learning about animals including humans for the next 2 weeks. The first week we will be learning to classify different animals into the 5 categories (Fish, Birds, Reptiles, Amphibians and Mammals). Then in the second week we will be learning about the different needs of animals and what humans need to keep healthy. In the second week we will be furthering our knowledge of animals by going on a trip to Wildwood animal park.

Music – Your imagination.
In the next week we will be learning all about music and learning the song 'Your Imagination'. We will be learning to play it on the glockenspiels and using our environment to make our own music and writing our own songs.




The children have been finding different ways to play our song (Ipads and in the music area) as well as writing songs and finding keywords in a crossword.

Geography – Where we live.
In the next 2 weeks we will be learning about where we live. During the first week we will be looking at human and physical features. We will build our own human features and spot physical features in our environment. For the second week we will begin to learn to find where we live on a map. This will include looking at lots of different maps and globes and writing leaflets to show why the different countries are unique.
