History - Ancient Egypt
During our first history Learning Experience, Chestnuts will answer the key enquiry of, 'What did the Ancient Egyptians believe?' To answer this question we will start by studying where Egypt is, who the Ancient Egyptians were and when they lived. We will go on to look at: Gods and Goddesses, the Pyramids, mummification and what they believe about the afterlife. As part of the experience, we will be visiting Maidstone Museum – where they have a real mummy!

R.E-Christians
During our two-week RE learning experience about Christians, we will be looking at stories in the Bible and what some Christians believe about Creation, the Fall and Salvation. We will then go on to look at how some Christians view life as a journey and the important milestones they might celebrate. Finally, we will look to answer these three questions –
- Why is the Bible important for Christians today?
- Why do some people think life is a journey?
- What can we learn from Christianity about deciding right and wrong?
Chestnuts have gone to Canterbury Cathedral. During the visit, they took part in an engaging costume trail and enjoyed a guided tour of the cathedral, helping us learn more about its history and importance to Christians.
Christians Knowledge Organiser
Chestnuts have explored some events that a person might experience in life. We looked at events that some Christians value and how everyone values different things, and might experience life changes at different times in their life.
Art-Block Printing
During our art learning experience, we will be learning how to block print. We will begin by looking at these three artists – Claire Willberg, Kevork Mourad, Shepard Fairey. Next, we will explore how to create stamps, as well as explore how we could use multiple colours in one print. Finally, we will create our own tile design. Check them out below!

We looked at creating repeating patterns, and also taking parts of previous drawings and reducing them into one image, as shown above.

We practised making the patterns in our books, as well as looking at different colours that we could print with. We looked at creating our patterns with a pencil, on styrofoam, before securing this, to be able to apply more pressure.

Then we went on to print some more in our books before finally using them to print onto our final pieces, some of which are displayed on our Art board.
