Topic- This week we are going to be learning all about the Jungle!

Make sure you listen out for all the different animals that live in the jungle!

After you have listened to the story, draw a picture of your favourite jungle animal.

Reading- Our story this week is 'Monkey Puzzle'. Click on the link below to listen to the story. Pause the video and discuss what is happening in the story and what animals the monkey is meeting!

Phonics- Today we are going to recap our phonics skills using Phonics Play. 

Recap: Go onto Phonics Play and play 'Flashcards Speed Trials' and recap all of the sounds we know so far including our new y and z sounds.

Practice: Go to 'Buried Treasure' and select 'phase 3' then choose y or z. Practice reading and decide whether the words are real or fake.

Apply: Go to 'Space Race' and select 'phase 2'. Listen carefully to the words and try to spell them to help the alien find his friend.

Maths -  Today we would like you to continue practicing your halving skills. Can you use objects in your house to complete the worksheet below? You can look back at Miss Emslie's video from yesterday to help you. 

Reading -  Yesterday you listened to the story 'Monkey Puzzle'. Butterfly was helping Monkey find her Mummy, can you help the animals in the document below find their Mummies? 

Phonics - Please watch Mrs Webb introducing the new diagraph 'zz' and complete the activities.

Topic: Today we are continuing our learning about the Jungle. Choose your favourite jungle animal and use your phonics knowledge to write some facts about it. Some ideas could be, what does your animal look like? Do they have fur? Do they have a trunk? What does your animal like to eat and what does it spend it's time doing? Look back at our 'Rumble In The Jungle' story for some ideas.

Maths: Today we are going to carry on practicing our halving skills. Use objects around your house to practice and get your adults to choose some numbers for you to halve. Once you've practiced, complete the ladybird halving to 10 activity below.

Reading: Our reading this week was the story 'Monkey Puzzle'. Use your phonics knowledge to write a list of all the animals that the monkey and butterfly meet in the story. Here is the link for the story again:

Topic: Today we would like you to act out the story of 'Rumble in the Jungle', pretending to be each animal. Ask your adult to take a video of your performance, we would love to see it.

Maths: Today in Maths we want you to practice both your doubling and your halving skills using the two worksheets below.
Think carefully about which method you need to use for each one.

Reading: Listen to the Owl Babies story using the link below. Discuss what happens in the story and which part was your favourite. Think about what is similar about this story and Monkey Puzzle and decide which story you prefer.

Phonics: For phonics today we are going to recap our 'zz' diagraph and 'qu' diagraph that we have learned this week.
 

Recap: Set a timer for one minute and practice writing 'zz' remembering your cursive writing. Then do the same for 'qu'.

Practice: Log onto phonics play and select 'Dragon's Den'. Click on Phase 3 and choose 'qu' or 'zz' to practice reading some words with these sounds and decide if they are real or fake words.

Apply: Click on the document below and read the words that include our new 'qu' and 'zz' and then match the pictures to the correct words.
