The music curriculum at Greenfields is split into three main areas:
Appraising, Composing and Performing
Appraising involves the children listening to a range of music, and develops from the ability to hear and match sounds to instruments in Nursery, to describing, comparing and evaluating a range of musical pieces against the elements of music in UKS2.
Composing gives the children opportunities to bring music into the world. Whether its by their own hands or through exploring their favourite chosen music in Early years, or by using a range of musical devices in their own composed pieces in Year Six.
Performing involves vocalising and singing, and progresses from joining in musical experiences in Nursery and Year R to singing, playing and performing music using notation in Years 5 and 6.
