You will see as you look through this website that Greenfields is a vibrant and nurturing place for learning.  As governors we feel privileged to be part of a community where so many people are committed to give our children the best possible opportunities to learn and grow into well-rounded, curious and caring individuals.

It is our job to set and monitor policies, plans and procedures that guide the running of the school.  The day to day management of the school is not our responsibility - that falls to our  Head Teacher, Dan Andrews.  To fulfil our roles well, we become involved in all aspects of life of the school - meeting with staff and attending events including regular governor meetings and we undertake training.

At least once a term a number of us spend time in school - sitting in lessons, attending clubs and meeting and talking to children and generally getting a feel for the school on a typical day.  We are 'critical friends'.  We have the best interests of the school at heart and regardless of challenges we never lose sight of our core values and commitment to high quality provision.  It is the governors' responsibility to ask the difficult questions and sometimes make difficult decisions.  We monitor the children's achievement and attainment to ensure that the teaching team has the resources it needs to best educate our children.  It is down to us to approve and monitor the school budget.

Our school is doing very well, all elements were judged as good or outstanding in our last full inspection (May 2019) and it was confirmed that these standards have been maintained in our most recent monitoring visit (January 2025).  Dan Andrews, his team and the governors have a vision for continuing to raise the attainment of our students and for maintaining the special Greenfields ethos.
