2024/25

week 1

This week we have been reading My Daddies, a story about a child who has two adoptive daddies and through the stories they read they go on lots of adventures. We drew our own families.

We also used our fine motor skills to write words from our story book.

We had an amazing first PE lesson alongside year R practising our balancing skills and making different shapes with our bodies. as well as another lovely hour of boogie tots with Nina.

We had a fantastic first week of child-initiated learning in our new classroom. It has been so lovely to see the children so engrossed in their learning. We have been drawing, exploring the sand and water, completing puzzles and lots of role playing with teddy bears and bottles. We also ended the week making some yummy nest cakes!

Week 2

This week we have been reading Daisy eat your peas. It is a story about a girl named Daisy who refuses to eat her peas at dinner. Her mother offers her various rewards, escalating from chocolate to a space rocket in an attempt to get her to eat her peas, but Daisy remains firm in her dislike. We started off our week by looking at different vegetables and fruits and discussing what is good for us and what isn't.

We also enjoyed tasting different vegetables, such as peppers, carrots, cucumber and tomatoes. All the children got really involved and tasted them all!

The children then used their fine motor skills to complete a cutting, sorting and sticking activity. We sorted foods into healthy groups and unhealthy groups.

Maths

In maths this week, the children looked at their subitising skills up to 3. We provided the children with a set of paper plates with dots on them 1-3. I then showed them a plate and encouraged them to subitise and show the matching plate with the same number of dots. We also practised our pencil control by drawing some shapes.

Boogie totts was so much fun this week! We were joined by our friends from Pear trees. As well as visiting the top playground to practise some balancing on the climbing frames.

It was another fun week of child-initiated learning. We had lots of water play, role playing and giving each other makeovers as well as building dens with our friends from year R. We then ended our week decorating and icing biscuits and then eating them in the sunshine listening to a story.
