Web design - Computing

This term in computing, we will be analysing web pages to understand what features are used to create an effective web page. We will then be using Keynote to design our own webpages, ensuring we use features such as hyperlinks, images, external content and appropriate headers and information.

Web Design

Electricity - Science

Electricity

In Science this term, we will be exploring how electricity works in a circuit. We will develop an understanding of the difference between a complete and incomplete circuit, as well as conducting an experiment to find out how voltage can increase the loudness of a buzzer. Following this, we will then explore components in a circuit and look at whether the number of components in a circuit will affect the flow of electricity around it. To support our learning, we will be visiting the London Science museum.

We loved our trip to the London Science Museum!

We loved finding out that the higher the voltage in a circuit, the louder the buzzer is!

Healthy Eating - PSHE

Healthy Eating

This term in PSHE, we will be developing our knowledge and understanding of healthy eating. We will explore what makes a meal healthy by developing our understanding of calories and different food groups. Furthermore, we will be exploring the effects of a healthy and unhealthy diet, alongside understanding how planning a meal can help us to make the right choices.

Livin' on a Prayer - Music

Livin' on a Prayer

This term in Music, we will be listening to and appraising Livin' on a Prayer by Bon Jovi and similar artists/songs. In addition to this, we will be learning to play elements of the song on a Glockenspiel, as well as learning to sing parts of it.

We practised playing the glockenspiels.

Set Design - Art

Set Design

This term in Art, we will be exploring set design and techniques that are used to aid the design. To strengthen our understanding, we will be visiting Harry Potter Studios in London to look at their set designs, before building our own sets, using the Harry Potter sets as inspiration.

We recreated some of our favourite sets that we saw!

We had a great time at the Harry Potter studios, exploring the sets and drinking butterbeer!

Drugs and Alcohol - PSHE

In PSHE this term, the children will be developing an understanding of what a drug is and the effect it could have on the brain and body. They will be given scenarios and will need to decide whether they should or shouldn't interact, based upon whether that scenario is good or bad.

Drugs and Alcohol

The Human Body - Science

In Science this term, we will be learning about the human body. Firstly focusing in on the circulatory system. We will find out what the circulatory system is, what makes it up and how it works. Following this, we will then investigate further, the make-up of blood and how it flows through our bodies. To deepen our understanding, we will be dissecting a lamb's heart to enhance our learning and understanding of the layout of the heart. Furthermore, we will be conducting an experiment to deepen our understanding of how exercise can affect our heart rates. We will then develop an understanding of how drugs, alcohol and exercise affect our bodies, before conducting an experiment to understand further how exercise affects our pulse and body.

The Human Body

We dissected lambs' hearts to further understand the way the circulatory system works and how blood flows through the heart.

We conducted an experiment to understand how exercise can affect our heart rates. We varied our exercise time from 30 seconds to 1 minute 30 seconds.

These are all our amazing diagrams of the different parts of the circulatory system and the role they play within it!

HTML - Computing

During Computing this term, we will be learning about HTML, focusing on what it is and learning how to use HTML to develop our own websites.

HTML

We created our own websites using HTML!

Natural Disasters - Geography

This term, we will be looking at natural disasters. We will be learning what a natural disaster is, what different types of natural disasters there are, what causes them, the impact they have and how this can be reduced and some natural disasters that have happened in the world.

Natural Disasters

We conducted research into natural disasters that have already occurred across the world!

Maya - History

During this Learning Experience, we will be learning about the Mayan empire. We will begin by looking at who the Maya were and where they lived. We will be comparing the Maya timeline with events from British history. We will explore how the Mayan civilisation was run, how they lived and their beliefs, before investigating the decline of Maya cities. At the end of the Learning Experience, we will invite parents in to experience some of our learning.

Maya

We explored potential reasons that contributed to the demise of The Maya and came up with our own ideas for it!
