Term 2
In Learning Experience this term, we will be learning about the human body in science, drugs and alcohol in PSHE, set design in art, glockenspiels in music and healthy eating in PSHE. In English, we will be reading Crater Lake by Jennifer Killick and will be focusing on Writing to Entertain. In maths, we will be covering fractions, decimals and percentages. PE this term will be gymnastics and fitness. Check our class page to keep up-to-date with what we are covering.
Set Design
During this Learning Experience, we will be researching and experimenting how to create small-scale film sets. To gain inspiration for this, we will visit Harry Potter Studios. We will be trialling different techniques to create realistic aspects to our sets as well as ensuring our designs are appropriate in scale. The Human Body
During this Learning Experience, we will be learning all about the human body. We will begin by zooming in on the circulatory system. We will investigate the make up of blood and how this flows through the heart. We will then, dissect a lamb's heart to really understand the composition of a heart. We will finish the Learning Experience by researching the impact diet, drugs, alcohol and exercise have on the human body.

Term 1
In Learning Experience this term, we will be learning about the ancient Maya in history, Natural Disasters in geography, HTML in computing and Money in PSHE. In English, we will be reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and will be focusing on Writing to Inform. In maths, we will be covering place value, addition and subtraction. Natural Disasters
During this Learning Experience, we will be learning about natural disasters. We will begin by looking at the Earth's layers and tectonic plates. We will explore how shifts within the tectonic plates cause earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes. We will then have time through the Learning Experience to ask questions and discover more about the specific areas of natural disasters that Elm Trees children find interesting and want to find out more about.

Maya
During this Learning Experience, we will be learning about the Mayan empire. We will begin by looking at who the Maya were and where they lived. We will be comparing the Maya timeline with events from British history. We will explore how they settled, what they believed, how they lived and how they were governed. Finally, we will investigate the decline of Maya cities. At the end of the Learning Experience, we will invite parents in to experience some of our learning.
