Art - Birds and Bugs Sculptures
For the next two weeks in art, Willows trees will be learning all about sculptures. We will begin by exploring the two artists, Vicki Atkinson and Barbara Kobylinska. We will then learn some wire skills, including bending, twisting, cutting and joining. Finally, we will make our wire birds and bugs sculptures using wire and recycling.

Mote Park Trip -
Linking to both animals in science and bugs and bird sculptures in art, we took a trip to Mote Park to go bug hunting! Willows did so well with all the walking – over 10,000 steps!
We searched for lots of different bugs!

Finally, we stopped on the way back to do some leaf and tree bark rubbings.




English – Mixed
For the next three weeks, Willows English will be based around the book Mixed by Arree Chung. Willows will be looking at what makes a sentence and how to use full stops and capital letters.
We created some houses for the characters in Mixed.


We explored a lot of colour mixing!


We loved comparing the start and end of the book through art!

Science – Animals
During the next three weeks, Willows will be learning all about animals. We will begin by looking at the difference between pets and wild animals. We will then learn about the key features and differences of mammals, birds, fish, amphibians and reptiles. Finally, we will look at carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. Willows will also go on a school trip to Mote Park for a nature trail to see what animals we can find!

RE - Christianity
Throughout the term, Willows will be learning all about what Christians believe about God. In particular, we will be looking at what creation is and the Christian creation story. We will then look at how some Christians might behave to others and the world around them.
