PSHE

Welcome to the PSHE/RSE, SMSC and British Values page!

Here you will be able to see the how our Personal, Social, Health and Economic curriculum comes to life throughout all key stages of the school. At Greenfields, we are fully committed to giving all the children the necessary opportunities to grow, develop and thrive in the wider world. Within each phase, PSHE/RSE is viewed holistically, with 'real life' application and is therefore taught both discreetly through learning experiences and woven into other curriculum areas such as guided reading, PE and science.

Our PSHE/RSE curriculum follows three main strands:

Relationships where the focus is on understanding the characteristics and developing the building blocks of healthy, positive relationships with family members, friends, other children and adults.

Health and Wellbeing aims to develop children's skills in making good decisions about their own health and mental wellbeing. This includes growth, changes in the body and keeping ourselves and our bodies safe.

Living in the Wider World where the focus is developing children's understanding about laws and shared responsibilities, communities, media literacy, digital resilience and economic wellbeing.

Interwoven into our Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education curriculum at Greenfields lies SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development) and the British Values (Democracy, Rule of Law, Individual Liberty and Mutual Respect, and Tolerance). Together, PSHE/RSE, SMSC and the British Values teach children at Greenfields the value of citizenship, providing the 'knowledge, skills and understanding' to 'play a full and active part in society'.

As we have mixed aged classes, our wider curriculum is on a 2 year cycle. For the academic year 2021/2022, we are following cycle B. Click on the link below to see how PSHE/RSE, SMSC and the British Values have been covered this year!

Follow the link below to see the PSHE Progression of Skills document. This outlines how a child in each phase can show their PSHE skills in each strand: Relationships, Health and Wellbeing and Living in the Wider World.

At Greenfields, our PSHE curriculum is also where we deliver the statutory RSE coverage for schools. Use the link below to view our RSE policy and find out more information about the statutory coverage of RSE within schools.
