On the 11th November at 11am, the whole school gathered around the flag pole to commemorate and remember the fallen soldiers who gave their lives to protect our futures. Some year six children were flag bearers with others reading poetry or placing the flag at half mast. We then observed a two minute silence to reflect on their sacrifice and feel grateful for those around us who still protect us and our freedom.
On Remembrance Sunday, eight year six children represented Greenfields at the Remembrance parade in Maidstone. Two children carried the school flag and Union Jack through the town whilst two others laid a wreath on the war memorial. We joined in hymns and prayers, sang The National Anthem and listened to The Last Post before observing a two minutes silence to commemorate the fallen soldiers from wars past. It was a very memorable but humbling experience.
