Monday 30th September | Maidstone boys' football tournament | 4th | Our new team played some fantastic football during the course of this tournament. Having been drawn against some tough schools, we narrowly lost our first two games, before improving to draw the following 3. We managed to better this again by winning our final 3 games, meaning we qualified for the semi-finals and a match against a talented Loose side. We played brilliantly in the semi-final and narrowly lost 2-0 to Loose, meaning we had a 3/4 playoff against Roseacre. Having gone 1-0 up through Leighton's excellent finish, we were pegged back from a corner, meaning the match went to a dreaded penalty shoot-out. Unfortunately, we suffered defeat as we lost the shootout 3-1, but we can hold our heads high at an excellent result! |
Tuesday 1st October | PSA Football Tournament | 7th | Having finished 4th the day before, we headed to the tournament with optimism. The tournament began brightly, with a 3-0 win over Southborough and Lyndon's first goal for the team. However, we lost focus against Park Way and dropped to a 2-0 defeat. Needing a win in our final game to go through, we battled hard against Loose, only to fall to a narrow 1-0 defeat. This left us in the 7th, 8th and 9th placed group, where we would face Brunswick House and Laddingford. We raced into a 2-0 lead against Brunswick, only to lose concentration and slip to a 3-2 defeat. However, we improved massively against Laddingford, winning 3-0 and securing 7th spot on goal difference. |
