Take a trip around the world with Willow Trees during Term 2! This topic will allow children to develop their geography skills as they learn about the continents, oceans and weather of the world! They will learn about the equator and how this affects the temperature of countries. Children will explore two countries (England and China), finding out key information, human and physical features and comparing the two capital cities, London and Beijing. Our PSHE learning will focus on family life in these two countries. Children will also get the opportunity to create collages to reflect the different seasons. They will practise their descriptive writing by exploring the wonderful book, 'The Snail and the Whale'.
We have decided to study two countries: the UK 🇬🇧 and China! 🇨🇳
We began by sorting through lots of pictures and having discussions to see what country we thought each picture belonged to.
🐌 The Snail and The Whale 🐳
We have been focusing on this wonderful book this week. We began by watching the animation and having a brilliant discussion about what we’d seen. Then, we listened to the story from the book and sequenced the key events. Next, we focussed on the amazing settings from the story, planned some descriptive language and wrote some amazing descriptive paragraphs.
🥯📚 Books and Bagels! 📚🥯
Willow Trees had a yummy treat this week! We enjoyed a delicious, toasted bagel and enjoyed some books with our friends. It was such a lovely experience and we did so well with spreading our own butter and jam! 🧈🍓
